Spring Setup

It was high time I reorganised my stuff. It's much more compact and convenient now.

Cool setup. Is that a Wavestation beneath the Venom?

Wavestation indeed... which crashed the other day and erased all my patches, dammit. Ha, well, back to the drawing board!

The same thing happened to me when I was changing the Lithium backup batteries in my beloved Roland D5. It blasted years' work to oblivion.

The Wavestation crashed as I was playing it, and asked if I wanted to purge the memory? I thought it meant purging the cache or something and reboot, but it actually meant reset to factory...

You have a D5?
Big brother of a friend of mine had one, and when I was a kid with a crappy small-keys Yamaha PSS, I was SO impressed by this synth.

Of course back then, I wouldn't have dreamed owning a Wavestation, or a D50.

I did not have a Memory Card to back up my user patches before changing the batteries, and since losing those unique patches I have only been using the D5 as a control keyboard for my JD990 module. Back in the 90s when I got it, it was pretty decent. Programming with the 2-line LCD display and 2 value buttons was a pain though...

A JD990, that's cool.
You have no idea how I craved for the JD800 when I was a teen, it looked like the most futuristic thing ever.
When I get more living space, I'm totally buying a JD800 (although I understand the JD990 have technical advantages, not even mentioning the size of the JD800).

If I had the space and U.S. second-hand prices in my country, I would go for the JD800 myself because of the controllers. I used to think that the JD990 had the same sound engine as the JD800, now I know they are quite different. The 990 is a later development/improvement from Roland.

The JD800 pops up now and then for 300 or 400€, which is fair.
