Backup Monkeys (Rehearsal)

Rehearsal time... working on a new arrangement for song "Backup Monkeys" (upcoming "Clockwork Cities" album).
I'm using the DSI Tempest for drums and sequences, taking advantage of the dirty, crunchy, built-in distorsion. Some Bass Station II melodies on the chorus, triggered by the Tempest.

Passions Amplifiées - Folle Journée 2015

Our series of concerts during the classical festival Folle Journée in Nantes is over...
It's been quite a ride... 6 performances of "Boundless River", a song created out of Erik Satie's "Gymnopédie n°1", "Gnossiennes n°1" and Philip Glass's "Dead Things", with lyrics from Emily Dickinson's poems. Good crowd, especially the Cité des Congrès concert at the Hegel hall, which attracted 700 people.

Gear-wise, I've been using a pedalboard with EHX Electric Mistress, Big Muff Pi and Strymon Timeline, my DSI Tempest for drums and sequences, and a Novation Bass Station II.

Clockwork Cities (Microkorg Vocoder)

Featuring the ever popular MicroMoorg
Bass&Lead : Moog Little Phatty
Drums : DSI Tempest
Strings : Gforce Virtual String Machine
Choir : Gforce M-Tron Pro w/ Chamberlin

In the clockwork city they all look the same
Everybody’s working and nobody knows your name
In the clockwork city they all look the same
Everybody’s working and nobody knows your name

In the clockwork city there’s no hope in vain
The heart of the wise in the house of mourning
In the clockwork city there’s no hope in vain
Everybody’s working and nobody knows your name

It’s a room full of toys and nothing’s for real
It’s a desolate place you can never leave
In the clockwork city you’ve nothing left to hide
In the clockwork city where things never die

In the clockwork city you know the game is fixed
How much you lose and how small you gain
All summer long I’ve been wasting my sorrow
All summer long broken and forlorn

Underneath

"She came to the river
To quench her thirst
To leave this all behind
And drown desire

We glance upon
The times we’ve known
Deep in her thoughts
She’s sinking down
We chance upon
The things we’ve done
Buried in sleep
And sinking down

We stare upon
The joy we’ve known
The forgotten scene
From a long lost film
We sigh upon
The things we’ve lost
Drowning the tears
And sinking down
We glance upon
The times we’ve known
Deep in her dreams
She’s sinking down"

Drums&Bass : DSI Tempest

Youtube Update : Last Night I Was a Ghost

Some of you have trouble with the Dailymotion streaming, so here's the Youtube upload as well. Today, back to work on finalizing the mix.

I'm planning to release this on the "Crack-Up" album.
The new DSI Tempest is drumming all along and boy does it sound great.
Otherwise, the usual suspects : plenty of Moog and Prophet 08, as well as some acoustic guitar.

Work in Progress : Last Night I Was a Ghost

New work on the upcoming "Crack-Up" album.
Miss Roxanne on vocals.
The outstanding DSI Tempest drum machine provided the basis for the song, and I've added lots of Moog Little Phatty and Prophet 08. Also featured, the new Chamberlin expansion for Gforce M-Tron Pro.

Tempest Video Demo

For demo purposes only, the Tempest track in isolation, from the "Static Song" sessions.
Not the best recording quality, my audio interface might be getting old, but with all the little live manipulations, I didn't want to do another take, so there you go...
A fair amount of Lexicon MX200 reverb (the only built-in FX are analog distorsion and compression, no digital ones).

Tempest Early Impressions Video

This is a short video to show what can be done right out of the box with the new Tempest analog drum machine, as you're learning your way through its rather complex interface.
