I'm in the midst of trying to do a similar mod to my own microkorg. I may have figured out a way to keep the hinge portion active, but I'm curious as to what made it not work for you.
It was more of a convenient thing. It felt like too much work at the time to make the panel movable and I felt comfortable with a Phatty-style design, but it's definitely possible, no doubt about that.
By any means keep me informed of your progress, I'd sure love to see a movable version of that mod!
Hello Khoral. I'm interested to modify my microkorg and to have a solution like your one. Do you have some instructions on how-to please ? i found quite hard to take away the knobs (I was not able, to tell the true, to get them away.)
Some very basic instructions : http://khoral.blogspot.com/2010/10/micromoorg-quick-mod-tutorial.html
I didn't start mine, the previous owner already had separated the two parts, but I believe he hadn't taken the knobs away. I think he cut the two parts separate with a saw, and removed the top panel with the knobs still in place.
I've finally finished my own MicroMoorg project! The hinge is fully functional and it works great. Ran into quite a few challenges throughout the process and had to learn a whole pile of new skills to pull it off, but it's done and I'm very happy without how it turned out. Thanks for the inspiration!
Could you give us the dimensions and plans and components you used for your project? It is just awesome! I'd like tu build myself the same one. Pleeeaaaase say yes! ^^
